It is unclear whether Agave parryi Engelm. var. huachucensis (Baker) Little in L.D.Benson (based on Agave huachucensis Baker, 1888) is the same as Agave huachucaensis Sarg. 1894. Clearly the basionyms are different, but I can't immediately determine whether they are taxonomic synonyms. If they are, this article is superfluous.--Curtis Clark 03:42, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As of 15:42, 19 April 2017, Agave huachucaensis Sarg. (1894) (with the extra "a") appeared in IPNI, with the bibiographic details "Gard. & Forest viii. (1894) 184". Volume 8 is dated 1895 in the BHL; page 184 is here. It says "We suppose the species to be Agave Huachucensis of Baker". So actually there is no "Agave huachucaensis Sarg."; the spelling is an error, and the name was not being published. I contacted IPNI and the entry has now been changed – see [1].
