~It should be noted that Metnal (one of the nine underworlds of Xibalba)is not neccessarily considered a hell. While the realm of the Mayan underworlds are depicted as dark and confusing places, they are not realms of eternal punishment. The interpretation of Metnal as a "hell" is a common misconception.

Removed text[edit]

I removed the passages inserted in these edits, as they are close paraphrases of text appearing on this external site. It would be far better to completely revise the information without reproducing the text of an external site.
