This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more trans women. Untitled[edit]

One question: why no photo? I mean, this person served in public office and regardless of their gender there should be a photo in the corner just like for all the rest. If you deliberately don't have a photo of the person ("because she's transgendered") you are only further perpetuating gender discrimination, methinks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.71.29.7 (talk) 20:35, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We don't have pictures of her predecessor in the state legislature, Nelson Merced, or her successor, Charlotte Golar Richie, either. Since Garrison has never served in Federal office, only state office, it's not as easy to find a public domain or other free content photo for her than it would be for a member of Congress. The lack of a photo on this article is due to availability and licensing issues, not gender discrimination. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 05:29, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- The "Public officers of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts" book is available online and isn't under copyright (if Archive.org is correct). That, and the state of Massachusetts links to (and probably uploaded) the PO-COM books onto Archive.org. Here's the page with Althea Garrison's photo. I'm not versed on the ins and outs for what is and isn't a free content photo, but this might be what you need for Althea and a lot of Massachusetts politicians.
