Ancient Greek wedding customs → Marriage in ancient Greece – The article as it now stands was created as part of a merge with Marriage in ancient Greece and Ancient Greek marriage law, and is broader in scope than simply wedding customs. Support While I precieve this to be a preference of semantics, I prefer the change. In addition, I have seen all the edits and overhauls User:Caeciliusinhorto has done on Women in Classical Athens and I know this proposition arises from a genuine care and concern for the topic.Tradereddy (talk) 14:26, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Support as proposer I don't think it is a question of semantics at all. "wedding" and "marriage" have different (though related) meanings. A wedding is a ceremony in which people get married; marriage is a union between people which can bring with it legal rights and responsibilities. The article as it stands has one section (Ancient Greek wedding customs#divorce) which is definitely not about a wedding custom (divorce is at entirely the other end of the process!), and various other parts throughout the article which are equally dubiously linked to weddings (a section on epikleroi, for instance, as well as quite a bit of discussion on how marriages were arranged). Having an article about marriage in ancient Greece with a title suggesting that it is about weddings is surely a violation of the principle of least astonishment. Divorce[edit]

Too little Ancient Greek text[edit]

I noticed there being loads of English transliterations of Greek words, (e.g. gameo) without the Greek written next to it or without a link to the WikiDictionary article. If anyone wants to change this and knows how to, go ahead.
