In a very minor speech that Ann Winblad made to a small company that Hummer-Winblad was investing in, she said three things that I still remember, 15 years later:

  • When asked how she got where she was, she said it was because she was an eagle. What? "Eagles...Don't...Flock." she said with pauses and emphasis on each word.
  • She told us (company employees) that it was true, not rumour that she was an ex-girlfriend from long, long ago of (either Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, I always get those two confused.)
  • She also talked about what it was like during the early days of being the founder of one of the big-name internet companies, but I forget which one--Novell? Oracle?

Can anyone confirm any of this? I'd really like to see this page fleshed out better. Thanks! Dorthea Glenn 13:14, 5 February 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dorthea Glenn (talkcontribs)

The catchphrase, "Eagles don't flock" was not coined by Ann Winblad. My ex took a business class at Los Angeles Pierce College in the early '80s, and in her textbook for that class that phrase was attributed to a particular businessman who was already well-established -- it might have been Ross Perot. The catchphrase was prominently displayed somewhere in his office. // Internet Esquire (talk)
