removed a large section of text which was unclear, awkward and confusing. it reference the 'first annesley hall'; perhaps a disambiguation page is in order if there's another annesley hall.

First in Canada?[edit]

I'd like to see a citation for this. McGill's Royal Victoria College (the McGill residence hall that used to be the women's college of McGill) was built in 1899, so I'm not sure where the claim of Annesley Hall being the first women's college in Canada comes from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.95.15.143 (talk) 01:52, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is already a citation, from the building's official listing as a National Historic Site by Parks Canada: "Annesley Hall was the first purpose-built womens’ residence on a Canadian university campus." [1] St. Hilda's College at Trinity College actually opened in 1888 so it is even older than Royal Victoria College, but Annesley Hall did not include any teaching facilities so it was the first dedicated residence.
