Pronunciation[edit]

As this word has a homonym in English, and in French the "e" at the end would be silent, I think this page should have various pronunciations given. --Sobolewski 04:01, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has three homonyms: air, heir and are (the first two being homophones & the last being a homograph). I'll give the English pronunciation. I don't know the French one but I don't believe that this is the place for it anyway. Jɪmp 06:07, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BIPM 8th ed[edit]

BIPM have moved on. They no longer refer to the unit "are" and as such it is no longer accepted for use with SI as it once was in the 7th ed. I am updating the article text. Bleakcomb (talk) 03:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Proposal[edit]

I propose that this article be merged into the article hectare along with the articles centiare and decare. This centiare and decare article are very short and could easily be merged into a larger article. Furthermore there is a good deal of repeated material in this article and the hectare articles.

I have not seen any comments on the merge proposal, so I am going ahead. It will be done gradually over the next few days. Martinvl (talk) 16:25, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
