I take issue with referring to Ballardvale as "Ballard Vale", and calling the one-word spelling "incorrect". I've lived in the area for all my life and never seen Ballardvale written as two words.

"Ballard Vale" is Ballardvale[edit]

That sentence that "Ballard Vale" is one word is completely wrong. It is, has been, and always will be "Ballardvale". The local newspaper insists on calling it "BallardVale" (still one word) as if that will make it interesting or cool, like SoHo. Sadly, it will take a lot more than a name change for that.

I agree. I grew up in Ballardvale, and I have never heard of or seen the "Ballard Vale" spelling. I propose the article should be moved to "Ballardvale, Massachusetts". NBS525 13:34, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From the original writer: I called it Ballardvale at first, then realized I'd made the same stupid mistake everyone else makes. It really is two words -- ask any historian or old-time resident. I was a member of Ballard Vale United Church and this was drilled into us over and over again.
