Untitled[edit]

As of 22:06 23 July, 2006, the Battle Field 2 article has been merged into this one. Battle Field 2 is now a redirect page to here.-werdnanoslen 22:06, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i belive this page to be of poor standard and biased and at times sounds like a 13 year old wrote it.

Hunter, what you are doing is immature. I'm removing the deletion request. No one here is discussing the deletion of this article. Seriphyn 14:09, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

what the hell are you going on about that request was by a ip adress please retract your statement look in the history you idiot--Hunter91 17:11, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Be realistic. Who did I direct the '13 year old wrote it' to? You could have just gone onto a different computer, sonny, or even used a sock puppet yourself. And why 'the idiot' remark? You were on about reporting me to an admin for saying that, yet you use even worse language against me? And I pose a question to you. Why the deleting of comments left by other users? They are not 'sock puppets' Seriphyn 17:23, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

who the heck is that and by the way who ever it is i have removed their name as it is against wiki rules to publish other peoples info on wiki you wouldt want some one to publish your info on the internet would you like you name and phone number.--Hunter91 17:27, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just finished copy editing the entirety of the article. The most major changes were to the section about crashes which I tried to make more obejective by saying that the problems were reported rather than before when the article made them sound universal.--Johantheolive 22:03, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe someone can provide a total of the number of crashes occur. Maybe a percent of time it crashes? --Sguzior 05:29, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dont think that the number of times the game crashes is as important as the fact that the game crashes at all. And I personally own the game, for Xbox, and it has never crashed on me. Though it may crash on Playstaion 2. Avid Gamer DK 04:32, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the other week (1st april) the servers had shut down and there were only five or six of them all full!on the ps2 21:17, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

I bought the game the day it came out on the PS2 and it hasn't crashed. MafiaCapo 3:03 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Reception[edit]

Maybe it's just me, but the 'reception' part of this article seems to be, if not completely fabricated, then extremely biased. A Metacritic rating of 79 (plus a user average of 9.1) and an Amazon average user rating of 4/5 for PS2 and 3.5/5 Xbox would suggest to me that the game wasn't poorly received but, instead, was actually quite warmly received by both critics and gamers. Now maybe a certain number of PC Battlefield 1942 fans were unhappy with it, but as this was changed to be a more console friendly experience I really don't see how that viewpoint is more valid than general critical reception. Just a thought. 88.104.46.27 00:37, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why put the American kits in?[edit]

It seems somewhat stupid to only have the American kit described. Frankly I'd favour removing that section entirely, but it would be acceptable to see it expanded to not be so US-centric by including the kits of the other armies. Walshicus

  • I agree with Walshicus, though if it is to be deleted then it should have its own page (example: City of Villains) --Airborne502 06:28, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

i also agree but not that it should be deleted but who will have sufficient knowlage of the other kits to describe them because for example the NATO FORCES USE SA80 submachine guns but in the game they have grenade launchers on them but in real life you can not get a SA80 with a grenade launcher on it --Hunter91 17:38, 3 July 2006 (UTC) huter91 youre an idiot, 1 the SA8O is not a submachine gun and 2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SA80#Deployment read that, idiot[reply]

  • Then what do you agree to? You say you agree with Walshicus, but don't want to delete the American kit section. Also, there doesn't need to be some long & unnecessary description of each weapons, just a simple list like the one that already exists.--Airborne502 19:37, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

to confirm what i think should be done is that like airborne has said is that a simple list should be created for each of the kits rather than anouther page for each kit.--Hunter91 20:07, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I put in the European Troop kits, and I'm currently working on the Chinese Troop kits. Please correct mistakes in the list that I put in if you see any. I got the equipment from the PS2 version of the game. SpiltCoffee 03:11, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

iCappyAssassin FAQ[edit]

Where is there any FAQ at the end of this article? I think it should be removed, and the person that made it should submit it to the proper website. Agree? Disagree? --Airborne502 06:28, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About the online experience[edit]

This game's one of the best FPS for the PS2 but it is plagued with Glitches and What we call RankWhores. It is a very Fun game to play and Many Clans out there. 24 players online(12 on 12)CTF(Capture the Flag) & Conquest for those of you who are new to Conquest mode I'll explain as best as I can; You have a Set of Flags in certain Key areas in the game where all the flags start off as neutralized your team has to basically run around and get them all, But it's not as easy as capture the flag cause you have to remain in that spot as the Flag meter moves up and you finally capture it(The more teammates on the flag the Faster you'll capture it). Conquest games are decided by tickets the team with the most of the tickets at the end of the game is the Victor. In some stages if you capture every single Flag the game os over and your team wins. Now, Teamkilling is ugly in this game(The no Friendly Fire option does not exist) and as some other FPS games The team has to vote to kick the person out, TK's tend to Vote against the whole team to even the odds but it makes no difference. Glitchers Are another issue in this game, Wall Glitches are the biggest part of Glitching in this game, Enemies can shoot you through the wall but you cannot shoot at them, They're Basically invincible. Weapon Glitches(Don't ask me about those), Chopper Glitches and even flying glitches done with Vehicles(Airwalk Glitch). The Servers Suck badly, Sometimes it will Delete your Clan, Delete your Stats and Clan Servers are down most of the time so to start Clan matches Kinda sucks but besides that this game is pretty Cool. Vehicular Mayhem and Good Gameplay. The first time you play it you'll be hooked but the PC version is way better.

Not a game guide[edit]

I tagged the award and ranking system articles for deletion. The articles are pure gameguide.

I think you are confused about what a game guide is. A game guide is where there are tips and hints and instructions and non-objective things like that. Simply having information on a game is not a game guide. If that is what you think a game guide is, then why dont you put the main game articles up for deletion as well? Remy B 03:02, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have to say that having those two articles deleted did in fact anger me, they were merely a reference to which player could check to see what the different ranks were and see ribbons. I did put quite a bit of time into them.BF2MCguy 15:05, 22 October 2006 (PST)

PSP version contradiction[edit]

From the intro: "A PlayStation Portable version was announced in 2005, however little information is known about its development.". However, from the Xbox 360 section: "However the PSP variant of Battlefield 2 has been canceled by EA Games." In other words, the article contradicts itself. Which statement is true? Also a direct link to the source should be added, not just the words "gamespot.com". Retodon8 15:13, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect weapon listing[edit]

The EU troop kit listing for the sniper rifle is not correct. The SVD is the MEC sniper rifle, the EU sniper rifle an Accuracy international one (the exact model eludes me right now), not too good at wiki editing, any chance a wikininja can sort this? --80.47.134.224 15:18, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re-write[edit]

Article a bit long and reads like a game manual, Suggest summarising the points made about gameplay, I'll get round to it soon. --Speed Air Man 16:08, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POV problems[edit]

As another editor noted above, the article has some issues.

The article incorrectly creates the impression that the game was not well received. That will be easy to fix. It also unfairly lambasts BF2:MC on the 360 for a "minor" graphics upgrade; having looked at the screenshots it seems to be nearly on par with the PC game! Much improved over the PS2/Xbox version, to say the least. There may be more, but those are the issues that stand out at first look. --Edwin Herdman 18:24, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Network playing[edit]

I have a doubt and I wonder if someone can answer me:

The networks of PS2, X-BOX and X-BOX 360 are mixed? or each console has its own?

I mean: if I´m playing BF2:MC in the PS2, am I playing with people who is using X-BOX or X-BOX 360 too, or only with people with PS2 consoles?

To answer in short To each it's own

Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._ΞΞΞ_ . -- 21:30, 23 September 2007 (UTC-5)

To answer in short "To each it's own" 30/september/07

The PS2 and PS3 players all play together, and the Xbox and Xbox 360 players play together. The playstation users CANNOT play with the xbox users —Preceding unsigned comment added by HermXIV (talkcontribs) 00:59, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Control Stick Layout - Xbox 360 version[edit]

Does the Xbox 360 version of the game allow players to change the control stick layout? The reason I ask is because the Xbox version does not allow you to do that.--Just James T/C 05:10, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

XBOX Live support?[edit]

It's 2010... I haven't had XBOX Live in a few years - is this game still capable of playing online? I think it's relevant to the article if there is no longer XBOX Live servers for this title.98.224.76.31 (talk) 10:09, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

August 23 or 24, 2011 is when BF2MC servers for all platforms shut down.70.30.55.73 (talk) 00:13, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not true - November 4th 2011 - I played BF2 MC online last night on the PS2, the servers are still running. Not many players left though. And you cannot now create new online accounts for BF2 MC on PS2.
