Improvements that could still be made[edit]

-In Bobby Byrne (musician)#As bandleader and war interruption, I was thinking that "In July 1940, Byrne suffered an attack of appendicitis. Bobby conspired to keep news of his ailment from his father, however Glenn Miller found out about Byrne's illness and relayed the news home. Hew was able to delay surgery until fall of that year." could be improved by removing the middle sentence, and simply saying "In July 1940, Byrne suffered an attack of appendicitis, which he had surgically fixed in the fall of that year."

-In Bobby Byrne (musician)#Style, I was thinking that the "A 1942 review praised his "clean, solid swing" but found him to be verbose. Although known for his perfectionism, he was also known for his personal affability." part should be removed, as it refers to him more as a person than him as a musician, not really fitting in with the rest of the section.

Thoughts? CoolieCoolster (talk) 14:51, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. Regarding the first point, I suppose the information about Glenn Miller could be removed. I included it as an interesting fact that displays Byrne's youth, as well as the close-knit relations that often existed between bandleaders.
Regarding the second point, I think this sentence is much more important to keep. Bandleaders were often also the designated Master of ceremonies where their bands were playing. A bandleader's personality is usually prominently referred to in books about the subject, George T. Simon almost always refers to it in his in-depth writings. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 18:45, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I'll leave those sections alone then, and just see if there is anything else that can still be improved. CoolieCoolster (talk) 23:09, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Feel bad VS Feel badly[edit]

I noticed "Henderson felt badly for Byrne", and at least according to Merriam-Webster, I'm pretty sure it should be "Henderson felt bad for Byrne". CoolieCoolster (talk) 23:45, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date[edit]

His birth date of May 13, 1918 is contained in Social Security records, and included in this source. Other sources give a birth date of October 10, 1918, but this seems to be an error. There is some further discussion here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:19, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
