[Untitled][edit]

The head waters of Bull Creek was, in the 1950s, at the base of the Lower San Fernando Reservoir (the Van Norman Dam, drained after the 1971 Sylmar Earthquake) just west of the Saugus/Newhall pass in the Santa Susanna Mountains. The natural creek bed was deep and cool even during the Valley's summer heat. The creek meandered south through the center of the San Fernando Valley on its way to the Los Angels River. At the junction of the Metropolitan (Van Nuys) Airport and the Air National Guard station along Balboa Boulevard south of Roscoe, the creek's run off was directed under ground and resurfaced south of Saticoy Street and continued to the Los Angeles Flood Control Reservoir (Sepulveda Dam) and finally emptied into the LA River. (Source for the early reservoir names: The New Renie Atlas of Los Angeles City and County, 1944, Los Angeles, California. Source for route and environment: I rode horseback in the creek during the 1950s and rode from the airport to the Van Norman Dam. The current route for Bull Creek is essentially the same. Bull Canyon[edit]

I am confused. Google Maps shows Bull Canyon going northwest from John F. Kennedy High School and Bull Creek going northeast. So does Bull Canyon go to Rinaldi Street and Woodley Avenue as this article says or does Bull Canyon go to Rinaldi Street and Odessa Avenue? I think Bull Canyon splits from Bull Creek at Kennedy High School and then Bull Canyon proceeds up to Balboa Boulevard at Knollwood Drive. It crosses Balboa then it appears to parallel Bradford Place for a few blocks. Note that there is a Bull Canyon Road and it might be where Bull Canyon goes (going up the canyon) after Bradford Place.

Note that if you go to Rinaldi Street and Odessa Avenue then the smell is not from the wash, it is from horses next to the wash. 173.58.209.165 (talk) 00:46, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
