Merger proposal[edit]

I think this article and Mendoza, Argentina should be merge since they are talking about the same city, a department of Mendoza province. Bcartolo (talk) 02:30, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I oppose the merge, especially from Mendoza, Argentina into this article. The Mendoza article is on one of the principal cities of Argentina. It uses the natural title that anyone would use to find information on the city. Capital Department is (presumably) a legal entity not entirely the same as the city; it is unlikely to have the same history.-gadfium 05:59, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Strong oppose the city and the department are separate entities. Do you propose removing all the other departments that happen to contain the Provincial capital such as Capital Department, Catamarca, Capital Department, Córdoba, Capital Department, Corrientes, La Capital Department, Santa Fe, Capital Department, San Juan and Capital Department, Tucumán? Or would you prefer that all of the articles on Provincial capitals such as Córdoba, Argentina, Santa Fe, Argentina etc are removed and merged into the Departmental articles? Either way around would be extremely poor in my opinion. EP 16:16, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Mendoza the city is separate from the department or partido if in Buenos Aires province, which is an administrative division. More information should be added to the Departments of Argentina article as to provide a more detailed definition for the purpose of clarity. I am just saying that both articles talks about the same think. I don't know about the rest provinces, but the "city" of Mendoza is the capital department, the later being the proper name and "Mendoza, Argentina" could be also interpreted as the whole province. I suggest that Mendoza, Argentina should be a disambiguation page, beside there is crossed information and things that are repeated. Bcartolo (talk) 02:48, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's clear that the merge proposal doesn't have consensus, so I've removed the tags.-gadfium 20:48, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
