Incomplete sentence[edit]

Why the revert on the image?[edit]

I had included this image because it shows the crab in the colours and stance in front of it's burrow that are most typical and not, or not clearly, present in the other pictures. I think it really adds to the article and would appreciate your 2nd thoughts --DeVerm (talk) 19:55, 1 August 2011 (UTC).[reply]

As I said in my edit summary, it's a very striking picture, but the composition is all wrong for a taxobox image. The plant is much more prominent in the image than the crab, and there's a lot of empty brown space. I also tend to prefer landscape images in a taxobox. If we just wanted to show the colours better (and I agree that the colours in the current taxobox picture don't seem to be representative), we would probably use File:Land crab 3.jpg. If we wanted to show the burrow and stance, then File:Blue land crab.jpeg is the sort of composition that would be best (although the image is, in that instance, rather blurry at high resolution). The best alternative might be to crop your image to a much tighter, landscape image that focusses on the crab. Our key criterion has to be that it's a good illustration of the crab, not necessarily a great photograph (aesthetically) of the crab. --Stemonitis (talk) 05:06, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ehrrmmmm I had not put this image in as taxobox image... just as an extra image in the article. But okay, this is my own picture so I do have the RAW file and I'm sure I can crop. Let me do that and come back with it here. Thanks, --DeVerm (talk) 13:49, 8 August 2011 (UTC).[reply]

p.s. The original capture was at 280mm f/4.0 which is the longest I can go and wide open (70-200mm f/2.8 with 1.4x extender). If I find time one day I could go back to this place and spend more time so I can get closer for a much better capture. Confusing/incorrect images?[edit]

The actual species of the two crabs that appear in the two photos in the lifestyle section is questionable. The sourced description clearly states that the colour ranges from deep blue to pale grey.
