The LIRR's lease was set to expire in 1901.[1] Maybe that's why it went bankrupt, though I'd assume the LIRR kept operating north of Springfield. Was there a piece south of Cedarhurst, operated independently as a streetcar line? --NE2 08:06, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to [2], the NY&R from Cedarhurst to Far Rockaway was used as another track or a new alignment for the ex-South Side branch. [3] shows a branch that may be a remnant of it. --NE2 08:15, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Long Beach Branch trains along the Cedarhurst Cut-Off[edit]

This is still bothering me; Is there anybody with any info on the Long Beach Branch previously sharing trackage with the Montauk and West Hempstead Branches on the Cedarhurst Cut-Off? I've read a few things about this line going there as far back as the late-1950's, and a few things about it on Main Line station articles between Jamaica and Rockaway Junction, but I can't find too much else on when it was moved there, or realigned to the Atlantic Branch. So who can tell me when LB trains ran there, and when they stopped? ----DanTD (talk) 14:27, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
