Unsupported claims[edit]

I don't believe the "sources" cited support the claims made in this article; the artwork may be Celtic, but there's nothing there to support a claim for any particular techniques as being ancient or Celtic. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. There is no ancient tradition such as celtic cross stitch. Cross stitch is an old form of sewing but does not date before medieval times. However, there has been a huge resurgence in Celtic themed cross stitch in the last 10 years with the rise of the expatriate consumer.(Larry1972 (talk) 22:40, 9 September 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I also agree. - PKM (talk) 18:16, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaned up[edit]

I've cleaned this up and removed the unsourced date of 1735 from that sampler; nothing about it suggests that it's anything but contemporary and the uploader doesn't give a date.

The uploader of that image also created this article; his/her only other contributions have been to link to this article and add external links to http://www.mycelticcrossstitch.com here and there.

Sorry no one on the Textile Arts project noticed this article before.

I would be open to folding this into cross-stitch entirely if other editors active in Celtic articles this that is appropriate. - PKM (talk) 19:03, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
