The Texas bullnettle seeds are edible and very tasty. They are best raw. The seed shell can be broken by biting it, much as with a Sunflower seed. The contents of the seed are white. The seeds themself are grey and white spotted. The roots of mature plants are large and carrot shaped, up to 3 to 4 inches in diameter. These are a favorite food of pigs.
