Greatest?

8 million viewers

"The fourth series is due to begin in Spring 2008, and is currently in production. It will be moved from its regular daytime slot, to a primetime slot of 8pm due to poor viewers of the second part of Series 3 (with only 3 episodes) reached a high of 1.3 million viewers, where the first part of Series 3 (with 9 episodes) reached a high of 8 million viewers."

This claim is clearly not true as the programme averaged between 1.6 and 1.9 million viewers in both 2006 and 2007, with a peak of 3.4 million on January 3, 2007 during week 9. -- Smeknamn (talk) 17:39, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Show rules

Does anyone know what the rules are for the show? I've seen contestants prepare the dessert in advance, but nothing else, so is there a limit on what can be done before the day? Given the chance I'd expect most people to do as much as possible before the day, but it would make sense that the producer would want most of the cooking to take place when the cameras are there. In one episode, the "cook" had all the food delivered from a nearby restaurant, and succesfully passed it off as her own, so there's no problem with that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Standoor (talk • contribs) 22:08, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Is this article up to date?

I'm not sure this article is up to date is it?

I've just watched a Sunday Omnibus on More 4 and the five people were from Kent, and it was a tie between a Sri Lanakan woman named Tanya/Tania and this guy I can't remember the name of. This article does need updating, or something is wrong anyway. Currently they are showing what is listed as Series 4 on Channel 4, yet the guests and locations are different to what is on the article Neuphin (talk) 18:17, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

According to the website, we are currently on Series 9 - however, the latest episode is listed in Series 7. Is there a reason for this? I have no knowledge of the article, so I don't want mess it up. User:Bilky_asko ☞ Talk Pagé 17:57, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Maximum scores

IIRC, there are a couple of people who have achieved the maximum possible score. I can't find their names anywhere (though I believe Ian Cook was one of them), but it would be good if we could add that info. DaveChild (talk) 18:30, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

I chain watch the series on 4OD, I'm watching it right now. I think the highest score I can remember was 39 / 40. You can't take the scores too seriously though, especially across the entire series. They change drastically depending on what all the personalities of that weeks contestants are like (in and out of hosting), if they're after the money and playing a game or if they get drunk and have an argument (a common occurrence). So it can have little relevance to the cooking or hosting.

I too wondered what the highest and lowest scores were and feel that this should, for the sake of trivia if nothing else, be included in this page. The highest socre I've seen yet is 39/40 which went to Ian Cook (series 3-episode 34-Merseyside and series 5-episode 2-Merseyside). The lowest scores I've seen are 13/40 obtained by Vera Liburd and Stuart Moss (series 1- episode 11 &12- Leeds). If nobody knows of any better/worse scores or has any objections, I'd like to add this to the main page. IManOM (talk) 00:28, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

To be clear those are the scores for 5 contestants total. I understand that Lee Pritchett from series 6 and 8 only got 4/30 for a 4 contestant show. This would be put in as well. I thinking that maybe the best way to do this would be to create a section called 'Scoring' which has a quick mention of the scoring process and then contains the info about best/worst scores. Tara Mulholland

anyone got any idea why Tara Mulholland (Series 24) links to Le Chat Noir (band)? That band's article states that there's only two of them, and they're called Eileen and Teddy. tomasz. 10:27, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

One-episode series

There are some series that have only one episode. That's hardly what I'd call a series. There are technically 18 series of Come Dine with Me, not 26. Boushenheiser (talk) 19:12, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

That's as maybe, but we need to keep in line with Channel 4's series numbering system for it to make any sense at all, and that is what Channel 4 have decided to set the series numbers as. I have worked hard trying to insert the missing episodes throughout the year as they have been scheduled when I spotted they were not here. The Channel 4 website has often been the only source in the world of the episode details. If the series numbers here were wrong it would make that task impossible. Information overload?

There probably isn't and if it hadn't have been done I would say it is a waste of time but it shouldn't be taken away, partly so that whoever did it isn't seriously discouraged to make big edits or even edits at all. Wetter88 (talk) 16:13, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

It has to be said that it's probably not very accurate, either. While it's mildly amusing to find my name in an article on Wikipedia, the entry on this page which contains it has three errors. I'm reluctant to correct them myself, since that probably amounts to primary research, but if that's representative of the overall standard then there are probably plenty more errors elsewhere. If it is necessary to list the names of the people taking part in the show, then it would have been more useful to highlight the names of those who won each episode. At the moment it is just a list of names, since most of them are unknown (except those from the celebrity episodes), they don't mean a lot really. Hzh (talk) 11:24, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

American style reality show

I've seen some earlier episode, and Now I'm seeing the later shows, probably 2013/2014. And the later seems highly scripted, with fake conflicts, that seems unbelievable, like Hollywood/ American reality shows which are really over the top and very unbelievable. Separate article for episode list

The episode guide takes up quite a lot of space in the article - would it be a good idea to split this into its own dedicated article, perhaps titled List of Come Dine with Me episodes in a similar vain to something like List of The Last Leg episodes. --PhilipB (talk) 15:09, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

German version of CDWM The Professionals?

Currently watching what appears to be a German version of CDWM The Professionals on the channel Kabel Eins, entitled Mein Lokal, Dein Lokal - Der Profi kommt, the last three words appearing to be a suffix, which suggests there's also a German CDWM itself called Mein Lokal, Dein Lokal. Certainly it seems a lot like the UK one. Yet no mention of this in the International Versions section so maybe needs updating? 88.255.101.99 (talk) 15:14, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
