Costa is not a Portuguese surname, it originated in Greece as Kostas. Taken to Italy and changed to Costa and from there to the rest of the Latin world. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.228.162.231 (talk) 17:26, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dictionary meaning of Costa - is Italian for "coast" - so could have originated from the Latin language? Who came first Romans or Greeks? Maybe some historian on this subject could amend this for correct information. 121.209.151.2 (talk) 16:48, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Costa is a CATALAN surname, 100% catalan. I know a lot of ethnic catalans without any immigrant ancestor with this surname, this word also means "coast" in catalan language. I've never heard that Costa was a surname in other languages until I readed this article. Someone has to edit this article for add a complete list of all languages/nationalities where this surname is typical. --88.19.163.216 (talk) 03:51, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
