Counterpoise connection with antenna.[edit]

Hello. Is the counterpoise consisting of multiple 1/4-wave wires in open air connected to the antenna's coax feed cable, or only to the transceiver or antenna-tuner's ground? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.164.157.167 (talk) 00:21, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The counterpoise had to be located under the antenna, connected to the other side of the line which fed power to the antenna, so it is connected to the output of the antenna tuner. In a commercial mast radiator antenna for a AM or longwave radio station, for example, the transmitter was usually located a little ways away from the antenna, and its output was conducted by a coaxial cable to an antenna tuner in a "helix house" at the base of the mast (see picture in article). The output terminals of the antenna tuner were connected to the mast and the counterpoise. --Chetvorno^TALK 16:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
