Cypress vs Cupressus? 93.187.186.7 (talk) 12:14, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cypress pines

Here is a photo of mine of some cypress pines in Melbourne Australia. I don't know what species they are, but someone who does can install this photo in the appropriate article. Adam 09:38, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Mythos section needed?[edit]

Is the Cypress#Mythos section appropriate here? It seems out of place in a disambiguation page. Wouldn't it be better on the Hades page and/or the Cupressus_sempervirens page? --Dcfleck 17:02, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology[edit]

"The word "cypress" is derived from Old French "cipres", which was imported from Latin "cyparissus," the latinisation of the Greek κυπάρισσος (kyparissos).[1][2]" AAARGH! But what does the Greek κυπάρισσος (kyparissos) mean ???????? 86.134.49.128 (talk) 06:49, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

As I was trying to find Czech translation, I realized there is translation for Cupressaceae (https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyp%C5%99i%C5%A1ovit%C3%A9) and Cupressus (https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyp%C5%99i%C5%A1), but struggle to find any translation for this extra article and it doesn't seem to give any different information. Shouldn't it be merged with Cupressacae article? Kub1x (talk) 07:15, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

genus listing[edit]

Hello all- I'm new to this article. I made a change to one entry in the bulleted list just now to clarify that Cupressus is a genus. The way the list is currently presented, it took me a minute to realize that in the construction (Cupressus species), "species" is plural, and "Cupressus" is a genus containing multiple species. Though it's clear to me now, I think we should change the other genus entries in the list to make this more apparent to newcomers, e.g. "species in the genus Chamaecyparis" instead of (Chamaecyparis species). But I wanted to check with others first. Eric talk 04:18, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
