Virtual Communities[edit]

I added the following piece of text to the Virtual community page:

"non-local community" coined by Australian politician David Alistair Kemp in 1978^[1] began the modern era of thinking about community as being liberated from frontiers.

Another American has removed it to puff the accomplishments of Barry Wellman as the originator of this line of thought, when David Kemp was talking about non-local community well before him. Does anyone think my edit should be restored so David Kemp is properly recognized as the person that first coined the term "non-local community"? --VCHunter (talk) 11:37, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why David Kemp did not make a direct transition from Shadow Cabinet to Cabinet[edit]

I am writing this in regards to the piece in the article on why Kemp was not immediately promoted to Cabinet at the 1996 election which has been removed a couple of times by Cmr08.

Before I go on I am not convinced that Cmr08 has great knowledge about Australian politics and I find it suspicious that he made an edit on that piece of the article after he had responded to a question I posted at the Conservative Party of Canada article. To put it simply I think he has been following me around on Wikipedia by having a look at my contribution history and that I am pretty sure is stalking and I want him to stop.

What I said about Kemp not being promoted to Cabinet after the 1996 election make sense. He was a member of the Shadow Cabinet but then became a junior minister when the Coalition won government. The explanation of his assessment of his performance in Opposition seems very plausible.

From Cmr08: ‘ we can't just add info like this and tell other editors to source it” Then what is the point of having the “citation needed” statement. Information should only be removed if one knows for sure that it is untrue. As I do not think that Cmr08 has great knowledge of Australian politics he therefore does not know the information about Kemp to be untrue. The IP editor is right, I don't have a great knowledge of Australian politics, in fact I know very little and also don't know if the info is true or untrue. What I do know, is that the statement is unsourced, and falls under the living person policy, therefore there is justification for its removal.Cmr08 (talk) 06:03, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
