Dogon countryDogon Country – Dogon Country is supposed to be a proper name. Google searches turn up more results for Dogon Country than for Dogon country, especially in academic publications. The original French term, Pays Dogon, is also a proper name. AboubacarD (talk) 10:53, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • COMMENT It looks like the WP:COMMONNAME is actually Pays Dogon, even in several English sources?--Ortizesp (talk) 14:54, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Before the Mali War started, tourism companies have always generally referred to it as Dogon Country when dealing with non-Francophones. AboubacarD (talk) 21:46, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Per MOS:CAPS we should only capitalise this if a substantial majority of reliable sources do so. From an ngram, it seems that for most of the 20th century "Dogon country" was much more common. There was apparently a very slight lead for the capitalised form right at the end of the curve in the past decade, but that's still not enough for a "substantial majority". Source like the NY Times go with lowercase too.[1] Finall, I oppose Pays Dogon per WP:UE.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:06, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
