Caldecott Medal acceptance speech[edit]

Lathrop won the inaugural, 1938 Caldecott Medal from the American Library Association, recognizing her illustration of the children's picture book Animals of the Bible.

Jim Vadeboncoeur Jr. (JVJ Publishing) hosts a transcript of her acceptance paper (or "acceptance speech", as he links it from the second paragraph of Illustrators: D. P. Lathrop, one of this article's External links).
