Basic biographical details[edit]

The current article says Evans was "(born 28 November 1959) in St Asaph, Denbighshire, Wales". This is unsourced information added by an IP user on 4 July 2012. There have a couple of attempts to change this. Firstly an IP user tried to change it to "(born 23 January 1959) in Crewe, Cheshire, England" on 2 June 2013 (which was reverted) and an IP user tried again with the same information on 18 April 2015 which was also reverted.

It seems that the Crewe stuff is actually correct. "The Times" for 14 June 1980 says "Duncan Evans, the first Welshman to reach the final since John Povall in 1962. Evans who is same height as Peter Oosterhuis played for Wales last year. Born in Crewe of a Welsh father, he is working in Leek and has won the Staffordshire Championship ...". There is birth registration in Crewe at the appropriate time: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV71-8NBH (birth registered Jan, Feb or Mar 1959) . There are a number of references to Evans living at Deansgreen Hall, Lymm (eg http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/millionaire-jailed-for-tax-scam-926631 which says "Evans splashed out £1.2m in 2002 on Deansgreen Hall in Lymm, Cheshire, before selling it for £3.5m just a year later.") which together with this director information: http://www.checkcompany.co.uk/director/1976964/MR-DUNCAN-EVANS - which gives his address as Deansgreen Court, Lymm and says "This person was born in January 1959" also confirms the January 1959 birth date.

Evans is back in the news recently, having been arrested while playing golf in Portugal (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-east-wales-40781270 - the article says "Evans, of St Asaph" which adds to the confusion), so it would be nice to get this right. My plan is to say: "(born January 1959) in Crewe, Cheshire, England" and give some of the references above. Nigej (talk) 12:20, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
