Fair use rationale for Image:Earth in Flower-Bookcover.jpg[edit]

Image:Earth in Flower-Bookcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

There's something fishy about this article...[edit]

I think it is self-promotion. Even the company that published the book edited the article. Is that even allowed on Wikipedia? --Dara (talk) 10:59, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added facts and what I believe is useful historical information to this article[edit]

Hi Dara. I edited this book and was surprised to learn there was a a wiki on it. We did distribute print information to 3,000 university and college libraries, as well as many individuals within the community of Khmer scholars. When I saw the article I added additional info (like the table of contents, which I don't know how to format properly).

My goal is to share accurate historical information on Cambodian dance and Cambodian history. As the article relates, this study was done under the auspices of the last Cambodian government prior to the Khmer Rouge genocide. It's estimated that 90% of the dancers and teachers of Cambodian dance died in the four years following this study. Most of the archives accessed were destroyed. The information the author gathered as a researcher is important to world history and truly belongs to the Cambodian people to help them build their future.

This is why the website for this study includes free downloads of the bibliography, index and table of contents. Anyone studying the dance traditions of Cambodia or Thailand now has free access to all the sources accessed in creating this study. The site also has every photo in the book available for free viewing.

We could only afford to print 880 copies of the book and are trying to place them in libraries around the world. Many of these will be donated, especially to Cambodian libraries. Any funds derived beyond actual expenses will be used to support dance troupes in Cambodia by providing costume costs and scholarships for dancers.

I appreciate your interest in keeping Wikipedia non-commercial. I agree with you 100% and have come to rely on Wikipedia as my first source for balanced information. Perhaps this seems like a lot of information on the seemingly obscure topic of Cambodian dance but many people find it an important subject. I invite you to ask any questions you might have and to reconsider your negative comment if you are satisfied.
