First time posting in the talk pages, so I apologize in advance if I get the netiquette wrong.--- "Empire District Electric Company" is currently being promoted by the Facebook page mentioned in its text: "Stand against Empire District Electric In Joplin". In this context, the name and phone number at the bottom of the page looks to me to be an invitation to flood them with phone calls. Some discussion of pre-tornado facts and practices might lend the article a bit more neutrality. Perhaps a non-advocacy link to how regulated utilities in general handle their billing and increases.--- Most of the article is well attributed. This bit The company has chosen to discontinue some of their programs benefiting senior citizens as of June 14, 2011. needs a source. Lurkingheretic (talk) 01:22, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I won't besmirch this company on the main page, but I view the Talk page as just the place such opinions should be voiced.

I do not like or trust this company. Their customer service is very rude, and their policies are inflexible. While people point out all the good this company does, I put forth that they must do so in order to make up for or hide their bad services and bad attitudes. As I have no other options but to use their very frustrating monopoly in my area (Joplin, MO), I have to continue giving my money to this horrible, horrible company. If I had choices, I wouldn't use EDEC even if the other company charged me at double the rate. At least then they might have competent and nice customer service.

To summarize: On a scale of zero to ten, I rate this company a solid zero, and only continue to use them due to their monopoly. 142.192.10.50 (talk) 04:20, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
