Ideas/Input on the page Entertainment Journalism.[edit]

Hello everyone/anyone whom may read this, my name is Matt and I chose to work on this article for my COM-2000 class. I've looked over the article and thought it would be beneficial if I gave some input on it's current status. First off, there isn't much going on with the article besides the first paragraph explaining what Entertainment Journalism is. I think there should be more info and definitely other paragraphs giving specific information about the different fields in Entertainment Journalism. When I looked at the sources, mostly everything was referenced with a reliable source. The only thing that need to be changed is the third reference because the link no longer exists. When looking at the article as a whole, it is neutral, meaning no particular bias is apparent, which is good. From my knowledge and research, I didn't notice any plagiarism or close paraphrasing in the article, which is also great. When looking at the article as a whole, there isn't any specific information about Entertainment Journalism, which I feel could be added with some extensive research. However, all the info is relevant to the article, but more needs to be added in order to improve this article. These are just some thoughts and ideas I have for this article. I will be working on it in the upcoming weeks and would love to hear input from anyone else who is also working on this page. I believe a combined group of ambitious editors will be able to make this stub into a full page. Thanks and hope to hear back from anyone. Nizzafa (talk) 23:57, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matt,

Prof. Gregory here. Thanks for looking into the references in the article. You may want to see if you can find an updated link for the "National Entertainment Journalism Awards" from lapressclub.org and fix the link on the page for tomorrow. I agree that what's on the page now is unbiased and you're right that more could be added to the article. You may also want to begin doing research on the various aspects of Entertainment Journalism. I did a quick search on JSTOR, which you can get to from the SFC library. I searched "Entertainment" and "Journalism" using the Advanced Search and looking for Full Text articles, but nothing came up. Then I tried "Entertainment" and "Reporting" and got a number of good article hits. Take a look at JSTOR. One article that I saw was by Lynn Spigel called "Entertainment Wars: Television Culture after 9/11". Here's the citation: American Quarterly, Vol. 56, No. 2 (Jun., 2004), pp. 235-270. Also, take a look at the Columbia Journalism Review (www.cjr.org), affilated with the Columbia Univ. Journalism school. I did a search on "Entertainment Journalism" there and found this article: http://www.cjr.org/analysis/the_jinx_robert_durst.php. I didn't have a chance to read it, but take a look and see what you think. You might want to look more at CJR and you could also do a search to see what other Journalism Review publications there are. Most are tied to Colleges / Universities that have a Journalism school. So doing a search on Journalism schools might lead you to other Journalism Review publications that you could search as well! Lastly, take a look at Google Scholar (scholar.google.com) and do a few search with terms like "Journalism", "Entertainment", "Reporting", etc, and see what you find.

Great start here - looking forward to seeing what you find! Prof.bgreg (talk) 00:51, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello to whom may read this,

I found and updated the link for the "National Entertainment Journalism Awards" article from lapressclub.org. I also added a line of text and posted it's citation along with it. Any feedback to what a new section in this article could be would also be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I am currently drafting this article in my sandbox https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Nizzafa/sandbox . On there contains a short paragraph of what I intend to bring to the article. Some ideas I am looking to add to the article include what defies a work as entertainment journalism, what career paths are in entertainment journalism, what skills you need to become an entertainment journalist, possibly some history of entertainment journalism, some popular forms of entertainment journalism, problems in entertainment journalism, and finally the future of entertainment journalism. Those are my ideas, but feel free to give me your input on them or other ideas you may have. Look back here or on the talk page of my Sandbox to see a bibliography of the sources I plan to use. Note: I might find other sources add I continue to add to the article. Your contributions are appreciated - Nizzafa (talk) 02:08, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
