Europark controversies in Norway[edit]

Some controversies with regards to Europark have been described in this news article (norwegian) DN - Parkeringsmakten

Subjects discussed in the article include the social network betwen Europark's founder Snorre Bentsen and several key managers in other companies which subsequently awarded Europark with very beneficial and exclusive agreements.

Further the article discusses how Europark through a series of aquisitions of smaller competitors or legal actions against other competitors evolved into the dominating parking company in Norway.

A key point in the article is that Europark historically has been seen to exploit it's market dominance to increase parking prices in areas where they have a monopoly or near monopoly on the available parking spaces. Due to the laws governing private property and hence parking on private property - this market remains largely unregulated.

One such recent example is IT Fornebu where Europark in 2009 increased the price of outdoor contract parking by 45% Konkurransetilsynet Vedtak...

A point to note is that even if founder Snorre Bentsen sold Europark to APCOA GmbH in 1999 - he is on the board of directors for APCOA_Parking He also retains considerable ownership of parking houses through Indigo Invest --Greylensman (talk) 00:44, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
