is making up words okay?

[edit]

does someone making up a word and having an accredited source report and create a primary source for them does that validate made up words? 2601:346:1:7060:2554:95DE:3CD1:971F (talk) 08:43, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not "validate" anything. If a reliable source uses the term, and there's proper policy for doing so (e.g. it's not fringe usage, it's not undue weight, it's not unencyclopedic in tone, etc.) we can potentially use it. But primary source reporting is generally discouraged in favor of reliable secondary and tertiary sources. Please see WP:RS and WP:NEO for more detail on reliable sourcing and neologisms.
