I included most of the Spanish version of the article, but with some changes. First, I condensed the citations to Ferdinand Columbus' biography, and also made it clear that these were things he said rather than simply reporting them as objective fact. The Spanish article makes no distinction in terms of sources between this biography and others. I also removed a sentence whose only cite is the "Enciclopedia de Tarea," which is a "homework encyclopedia" whose site provides no information about where their information comes from. It thus seemed unreliable. That sentence discusses the encomienda system, and claims that Bobadilla perpetuated it and the resulting displacement of native populations. Finally, I kept well-sourced information from the original article, including the bit describing Bobadilla's death. I have not checked most of the citations, and so left their accessed dates alone. Anything with a June 2020 date I did check.
Despite my account's age, I'm new to editing for the most part, only having attempted it a couple of times. Feedback is of course welcome! I also would welcome some prose cleanup, as I was hesitant in my translation to stray too far from the Spanish version's text out of fear of editorializing too much. this name is also in use17:47, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
