Personal life[edit]

User:Sugarcube73 has added a lengthy genealogy of non-notable family members to the "personal life" secttion with this edit. WP:NOTGENEALOGY states: "Family histories should be presented only where appropriate to support the reader's understanding of a notable topic". Perhaps the geological information could be moved to the talk page, per WP:IRRELEVANT. The input of other editors would be appreciated. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:44, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Shelby Groner had three sons who lived to be adults. All had significant and notable careers in healthcare. This story needs to be told, however it might be possible to do it another way other than in a fashion that looks like genealogy.

Willie Lee Groner (1904–1991) married Clyde Moore Phillips (1904–1983) on August 26, 1930. They made their home in Wilmette, Illinois and had one daughter, Jo Ellyn Phillips (b. October 2, 1934).
Edward "Dutch" Groner (1906–1962) married Mary Elizabeth O'Leary (1908–1995) at the Carrollton Avenue Presbyterian Church of New Orleans^[1] on December 12, 1931. They made their home in Metairie, Louisiana. He founded Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana in 1934,^[2] which was based on a prototype developed at Baylor University in 1929.^[3] Two children were born of the marriage: Ruth (b. September 12, 1932 and Jack Castellaw (b. May 31, 1938).

Russell Wyatt Groner (1906–1907) twin to Edward, died young.
Frank "Iggy" Shelby Groner, Jr. (1911–1994) Married Daisy A. McFearin (1915–2000). They made their home in New Orleans, Louisiana and later in Memphis, Tennessee. He was chief executive officer of Baptist Memorial Hospital of Memphis.^[4] No children were born of the marriage.

Laura Virginia Groner (1914–1996), a graduate of Baylor University, married Orrin "Tiger" McKee Battle (1914–1972) in the First Baptist Church of Marshall, Texas on October 16, 1937. Dr. Groner officiated at the marriage of his daughter. They made their home at various times in New Orleans, Louisiana; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Houston, Texas; and Pass Christian, Mississippi. Battle was instrumental in the formation of the Baton Rouge Hospital Service Association in 1938.^[5] They had three children.
William Riley Groner (1915–1916) Died young.
Pat Neff Groner (1920–2012) was a Marine Corps aviator in World War II. He married Louise Mary Rugg (b. 1920) of Essex Junction, Vermont on May 5, 1944. They made their home in Pensacola, Florida where he was chief executive officer of Baptist Hospital of Pensacola.^[6] They had two children.
