As the author of the Garden State Initiative article, I'd like to address the concerns posted on the discussion page about deleting this article, please. Note that my explanations below might be a tad more thorough than we are used to on these types of discussion pages, but I think it's important to thoroughly analyze new articles to ensure that Wikipedia's guidelines are truly being adhered to. And in the case of Garden State Initiative, it should be clear that everything is pretty kosher here.

BASIC CRITERIA: GSI does meet the basic criteria for Notability for organizations

• Comment: The subject/topic "Garden State Initiative" has attracted the notice of several legitimate news organizations that are independent of each other.

• Policy citation: "Wikipedia bases its decision about whether an organization is notable enough to justify a separate article on the verifiable evidence that the organization or product has attracted the notice of reliable sources unrelated to the organization or product." - WP:ORGIN

"SIGNIFICANT EFFECT": GSI does match the "significant effect" criteria.

• Comment: Garden State Initiative's reports are having a significant effect on policymaking and legislation within the State of New Jersey, as described in several of the source news articles.

• Policy citation: "When evaluating the notability of organizations or products, please consider whether they have had any significant or demonstrable effects on culture, society, entertainment, athletics, economies, history, literature, science, or education." - WP:ORGSIG

"SIGNIFICANT COVERAGE": The organization is significantly covered in 3 ("multiple") of the 12 sources I used.

• Comment: Those three sources are independent of GSI.
• The three sources are:
  • Ref #1: NJ Spotlight
  • Ref #2: New Jersey Monthly
  • Ref #3: ROI-NJ
• Policy citation: "A company, corporation, organization, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." - WP:ORGCRITE

QUALIFYING SOURCES: Three of the 12 sources meet the "how to apply the criteria" policy guideline

• Comment: I also looked at the "how to apply the criteria" on the Notability (Organizations and companies" policy page on Wikipedia.

• Policy citation: "How to apply the criteria . . . The primary criteria have five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  • significant coverage in (Yep. Met that.)
  • multiple (Yep. Met that.)
  • independent, (Yep. Met that.)
  • reliable (Yep. Met that.)
  • secondary sources." (Yep. Met that.)

NPOV POLICY: The article's text is compliant with the NPOV policy

• Comment: In terms of NPOV, the opening paragraph on the WP:NPOV policy page reads:

• Policy citation: "All encyclopedic content on Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view (NPOV), which means representing fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all of the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic."

NPOV EXPLANATION: This article hits all the main points.

• Comment: It seems clear to me that the Garden State Initiative article -- when looking at the actual text of it -- meets that description pretty solidly. Additionally, under the section header "Explanation of the neutral point of view" on the WP:NPOV policy page, it makes the following points:
  • "Avoid stating opinions as facts." (The article meets this requirement)
  • "Avoid stating seriously contested assertions as facts." (The article meets this requirement)
  • "Avoid stating facts as opinions." (The article meets this requirement)
  • "Prefer nonjudgmental language." (The article meets this requirement)
  • "Indicate the relative prominence of opposing views." (The article meets this requirement)
