UK Singles Chart Listing[edit]

Madonna's new single has already debuted on the UK Singles Chart at #73 on its first week, as confirmed by acharts.us El Cangri386 01:16, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Charting[edit]

Can anyone explain why there is already chart entries. I can understand the song may appear on listings for amounts of downloads, but official singles charts are only counted for songs where the record label has notified the chart that the song has been officially released. I'm not for sure about this, but I refreshed my memory of how Billboard does this in the US by reading the Billboard Hot 100 page. If I understand it, so long as the track is in the top 75 on the airplay chart, even if it's just an album cut, it's eligible to chart. Since there's nothing preventing a radio station from playing any song they want, or stopping people from downloading what they want, I don't think the label has as much say in it as it used to. Didn't a bunch of songs from High School Musical all chart on the Hot 100 at the same time within the last few years? Fortunately I'm drawing a blank on that, but I just wanted to see if I could answer this for you in regards to Madonna. If I'm wrong, somebody correct me. Should there be a note somewhere that upon physical release on the 14th of July in the UK, the single has only managed to go at No.17? It's one of the lowest ever entries for her there. What's going on with madonna's new single? whenever i open the radio i hear 4 minutes (it was annoying actually, they played for minutes so many times that i got sick of it, its like they are in love with the song)... but recently the radio plays give it me alot... Single Sales versus Hot 100[edit]

Can anyone comment on the fact that though the single has not performed well on the Hot 100, it has consistently been at #3 in singles sales for several weeks as of early September? Support per WP:SMALLDETAILS and the fact that there are no other articles or substantial coverage of topics that use this spelling. Comment There are other songs with "2", Shinhwa released a digital single with the 2 spelling in 2015. There are no other songs with the "2" spelling that are notable or have coverage on Wikipedia. People searching for the Madonna song by typing in "Give It To Me" will be sent to the dab page and find it from there, as they do now. However, it's implausible that anyone looking for, say "Give It to Me (Timbaland song)" would look for it under "Give It 2 Me", which is the matter that concerns us here.--Cúchullain ^t/c 19:45, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
