Comment[edit]

hi dan a friend of mine Jade edited my wiki page to include info on my Haddo's hotdog business and the sala exhibition of hotdog posters i'm holding this august. we see it's been removed because it wasn't encyclopaedic enough, could you please help us edit it so it is, so we can reinstate it? cheers glenn lumsden 124.169.215.191 (talk) 05:52, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'd be happy to try and assist where I can.
Firstly it is not your wiki page but an article about you. I can understand that may be frustrating but you, your family and your friends need to avoid any direct editing of the article as it would clearly be a conflict of interest. If there are any obvious errors in the article let me know and provided we can find verifiable independent third-party sources that reference the change I'll try and do what I can.
Secondly Wikipedia is not a venue for advertising or promotion. Any information about companies and products must be written in an objective and unbiased style, free of puffery. All article topics must be verifiable with independent, third-party sources, so articles about very small "garage" or local companies are typically unacceptable.
Thirdly I am a big fan of your work and still have copies of Cyclone! and The Phantom, with your artwork. So you can either reply here or on my talk page. Dan arndt (talk) 07:08, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

hi dan thanks for explaining all that, i think you're right and wiki probably isn't the right platform at the moment for the info jade wants to add. i am thinking wiki is more appropriate to use once things are past, and unquestionable facts, rather than when something is yet to happen. for instance, the sala exhibition will be a fact once it has occurred, but leading up to it one sails close to promotion/advertising, and i appreciate the conflict. the only hard fact i could think of putting on the wiki page about me is that i am currently running a gourmet hot dog pop up business that heavily incorporates my art work, but i don't really think that's particularly noteworthy. maybe if haddo's becomes the hotdog equivalent of Hungry jacks's sometime in the future... :)

ps thanks for the kind words re the comics, i have (thanks to the success of haddo's) started to do comic work again. i'm doing a series of covers for pupper master, a phantom cover and a five pager for an australian publisher, in between my hot doggery. keep well! - glenn124.169.215.191 (talk) 04:15, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Per the explanation above, I'm marking this edit request as declined. Altamel (talk) 21:53, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
