Why the time to London is important, in my view.[edit]

In my view this whole branch line was created to take people from London to it. User:Redrose64 says that the current time information to London Waterloo I have tried to note in the article infringes (contravenes) "Wikipedia is not a travel guide".

Surely Wikipedia is not a crystal ball dictates Crossrail 2 should not have its own infobox? But I don't mind too much, just see that these rules are trying to get at irrelevancies mostly, i.e. arbitrary timetable information which would clutter the encyclopedia. Not projects we know are as good as built. I, as a major editor of (and contributor above all to) the project WP:UKTOWNS would argue travel times on those articles are less worthy there than here, after all many suburbs have multiple stations.

The Good Articles: Redland railway station and Jordanhill railway station give approximate 15 minute and 11 minute journey times, to the main destination for each, respectively.

I therefore think we could do with the full range of journey times to London Waterloo, at least set out in one sentence. Time is, after all, to most suburban travellers, precious.Adam37 (talk) 16:15, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is long established that we do not give travel advice: this includes train times, journey times, and advice on where to change trains. Such information outside the scope of an encyclopedia; moreover, it is subject to fluctuation, and with 2500+ railway stations, it is an impossible task to keep them all up to date. Out-of-date information is worse than no information at all - if people want to know these things, they should consult either National Rail Enquiries (links are in the infobox) or the relevant train operator. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:28, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive the reference to M.O.Style I meant avoid weasel words.

We could compromise, as I have suggested, with the "about" time if we must. I would invite you to direct your critique also into the lead section of Woking railway station with three journey times to Waterloo, or worse still, the three sections of the middle that which read, neatly, " (xx.22), and 1tph does not (xx.52)".

Really the point is that we are not talking about much of controversy: those wanting to socialise in the capital itself or those wanting to change trains to travel abroad would otherwise struggle to work out where to live to suit those needs. For instance, it is not immediately obvious that Woking railway station has far faster connections to the city centre than this branch line and thus suits better those with those precise needs (albeit a suffering regularly as a predictable side-effect, acute overcrowding). -Adam37 (talk) 17:46, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
