An inconvenient truth, so before somebody plasters it with 'Citation' tags: Didcot PS is 2000MW and burns 3.7 Million tonnes (6000 train-loads) of coal per year. The biggest wind turbines used in Britain can produce 3 Megawatts in an ideal wind. A child could do the maths. 160.84.253.241 (talk) 14:09, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 21 October 2020[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Berkeley Nuclear Power Station which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. Rosbif73 (talk) 15:25, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Numbering[edit]

How come there is a "Unit 8", when there are only four reactor blocks? --BjKa (talk) 11:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sept 2021 Maintenance[edit]

With the current UK power crunch in Autumn 2021 where the France 2GW inter-connector fire (outage until Mar 2021) low wind power and large gas price rises, there has been concern that Heysham plant(s) are also down for maintenance. There has been a spike in electricity wholesale prices, reported to be £2400 per MWh (usual price around £50 per MWh). It would be good if the Wiki entry could have a section for routine maintenance schedules and length of time these generators are taken off-line during routine inspections. In future, with all the mad UK energy policies, energy supplies in the UK are going to become very much more marginal to a point of unreliability - if nothing else during peak demand / freak weather events. The reliability of the UK#s dwindling (dependable) Nuclear Base Load will be ever more critical. With the main stream media becoming ever more polarised between click bait hysterical alarmism and BBC type government public relations "everything's OK" spin, it is often difficult to find truth, facts and actual circumstances. The world becoming ever more deluded to reality (as Dick Feynman often warned). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.70.4.39 (talk) 10:00, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
