Suggestions for expansion[edit]

I would think that this should contain some discussion of Eminescu's interest in Hinduism; also, probably, Eliade's studies. And I suspect there is more: I'm not exactly expert on which prominent Romanians have been significantly influenced by Hinduism, but I suspect that it is more than just these two. - Jmabel | Talk 06:35, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've now added at least a mention of Eminescu; there is a lot that could be done here. - Jmabel | Talk 01:05, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't doubt that Eminescu was interested in Hinduism, but the fact that Tattwamasi +Eminescu yields but 3 Google hits is slightly odd. I wonder if he ever wrote such a poem. Biruitorul 02:24, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I took it at face value, since the scholarship on the site seemed generally solid. Anyway, I think this all deserves a lot more follow-up: we have a near-stub on what could be an interesting topic, but because most of the sources will be in Romanian, I'm not the best one to do the research. - Jmabel | Talk 21:42, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alecu Ghica[edit]

There was a recent book i have read about Romanians and India, called Iter in Indiam, by Liviu Bordas. It seems that a XIX century Romanian boyar from Moldavia, Alecu Ghica, travelled to Jagganatha Temple in Puri and converted to hinduism, becoming a brahmin. It might be the very first european ever to be accepted in the Hindu priesthood. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.114.140.221 (talk) 21:46, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
