Copy[edit]

Since I am only creating a disambiguation page, please note the text at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006022816459 is obviously a copy from wiki.(Ekabhishek (talk) 10:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Redlinks[edit]

I have converted a comment to a redlinked entry, and added another [1]. Help:Hidden text doesn't mention the use that had been made here of a comment, one way or another, but I think it's a bad idea.

On the other hand, WP:DABSTYLE says in part Each bulleted entry should have a navigable (blue) link, normally as the entry itself (see the previous bullet), or in the description if the entry is red-linked or unlinked. In other words, redlinked entries are allowed (and are preferred to creating substubs, but I can't remember exactly where the guidelines say that), but a redlinked entry should ideally contain a second link which is navigable.

This second link should only be there while the primary link remains red. In other words, the second link should be removed when an article, redirect, good stub, etc is created for the entry. Andrewa (talk) 20:02, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hindustan, Pakistan[edit]

See https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Andrewa/sandbox&oldid=576631249 for the content of an article deleted on 22 June 2012. The deletion log reads There is no village Hindustan, Pakistan in Chitral. This was a speedy delete in response to the posting of

{{delete | [There is no village Hindustan, Pakistan in Chitral] }}

on the page by User:Mirajbibi, who was active on English Wikipedia from 17 March 2012 to 14 February 2013 but not since, and who according to their user page is a Pakistani and also active on Urdu and Punjabi wikipedias.

The article was created by User:Pahari Sahib who was active on English Wikipedia from 7 January 2007 to 4 May 2011 but not since, and so would have had no opportunity to contest the deletion. The only really significant content edit was by User:Drustaz who was active on English Wikipedia for a few days in July 2010 but not since. I found it very to design a helpful Google query.

http://www.ovguide.com/hindustan,-pakistan-9202a8c04000641f800000000b6350de reads in part Hindustan (Urdu: ہندوستان), is a small Union council of Chitral District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located at 35°44'36N 71°47'8E with an altitude of 1598 metres (5246 feet). This appears to be either the source of our article (which would make our article a copyvio) or (more likely IMO) a non-compliant mirror of it.

http://www.fallingrain.com/world/PK/3/Hindustan.html was the only reference given in the deleted article and this link is now broken.

http://www.fallingrain.com/world/PK/03/Hindustan.html however appears to substantiate the claim that the place does exist, and thus contradicts the reason given for the deletion. Whether it is notable enough to be encyclopedic is another question. The page gives a few links which may help. Andrewa (talk) 12:45, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's an entry for it also in the geonames database: http://www.geonames.org/1373564/hindustan.html. – Uanfala 23:26, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
