Explanation for the Original Research Warning[edit]

I have added the WP:OR warning to this article in light of the MAJOR edits and unverified claims added when this comment as created. As I do not have the time or interest to look into the dubious edits, I will leave to future and more experienced editors (preferably those familiar with the horseland website) to address the following:

  • There needs to be more content about the game play of Horseland
  • The controversy needs citations all the claims it makes from reputable sources. If statemats cannot be verified, they should be removed.

I sincerely hope that changes come soon.--Kenn Caesius 02:15, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Response: I am very familiar with Horseland, having played it since 2003 or 2004 I think. Please leave me a talk message or post here about any section you desired to be altered in even the slightest bit. Thanks. - Victoria uni 03:11, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's an item in bold, and it's in the section on Horseland Jr., even though it seems to be about the normal game, talking about a virus that some people have encountered from the Horseland site.
Furthermore, it even refers to the virus as being "run by Horseland", which, of course, is highly unlikely to be true. That the site, like many others, could have been a victim of one of those drive-by database vulnerability attacks, is another matter. However, a web search didn't turn up anything about Horseland and a virus.
It may be necessary to remove that content, and lock the page, if someone is using Wikipedia to malign Horseland. --Quadibloc (talk) 17:04, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the page history, I found that the item in question was put in by an anonymous user. It was already removed once, but that was done along with other edits which were later reverted. --Quadibloc (talk) 17:11, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

This article is in need of major cleanup, for tone, relevance of information, and referencing. I'm about to log off but I was hoping some people who have worked on the article before can add some input as to where to start. Maybe a good talking point would be to drum up some sources of information about this subject? Milto LOL pia 10:46, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

fixed[edit]

i fixed the article to before. please do not change it, miltopia. you seem to have undone all my edits before. i have played horseland for a long time, i doubt you have. if you do play horseland and you doubt me, my player name is lluvia, my player # is 1762434, and i am a premium player.

also, somebody needs to check the claim that tickets make your horse more likely get first place. Did someone make that up? It's not common knowledge, I haven't heard of it except here on this page.

Answer on my talk page or on this page. Thanks Victoria uni 02:30, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria, you should probably read up on the ownership of articles guidelines for editing. It happens that I've not ever played Horseland, but regardless the article should contain source-supported info, not personal opinions and comments, and certainly not "vote for me as player of the year" solicitations. Milto LOL pia 12:32, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted that a while ago. like a month ago. seriously. and it's not player of the year, it's for club president. ... i was not the person who put the opinions and comments (actually, that was me, but that was like a month ago.)obviously i've gained experience. ... and your link to the ownership thing doesn't work. .... i didn't write any of the articles. i just edited them to fit the game better.
By the way, I do not like the changes you made. Yes, some of the information may be unneccessary. But you clipped out TOO much... Now it's barely talking about the skeleton of the game. Somebody needs to work with me on fixing it to make it better.

thank you![edit]

I am impressed by how organized the article is now. Thank you, Philggg. Just wondering, what is your player number on Horseland? I play as well.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Victoria uni (talkcontribs) 01:09, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smash and rebuild[edit]

I've cut out a bunch of unencyclopedic, GameFAQ-ish gameplay info, and I think it's for the best. I think emphasis on article material should be on the history of the game, with some BRIEF cited description on gameplay and social use, rather than detailed and opinionated description of features and costs, etc. Milto LOL pia 20:04, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

External Links[edit]

What is some input regarding the links to the "help" and parents pages on horseland? I don't see any encyclopedic relevance but someone at one point obviously put them there for a reason. Milto LOL pia 23:08, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Revert back to older version[edit]

I have reverted back to the last version that Victoria did. The changes by Miltopia gutted the article and showed: 1 No knowledge of the subject matter. 2.No knowledge of how MMOG's are covered in Wikipedia. For a comparison look at Neopets. Also please look at WP:MMOG before making changes. thanks Philggg 21:43, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria's version is too much a fansite-looking webpage rather than an encyclopedia article, has numerous statistics without citations, and has poor formatting and just doesn't flow well. Information about HOrseland should be focused on information about the game, not extensively detailed descriptions of the gameplay. Milto LOL pia 20:36, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree.. looks at comparable pages..Neopets, Habbo Hotel, Runescape. They ALL have "extensively detailed descriptions of the gameplay". Actually they have a lot more than this article. If anything this article needs more discussion of gameplay. I do agree with you that it needs more references. Thanks Philggg 21:43, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good point, Philggg. Now that I go back to it, the Neopets page has an entire section devoted to gameplay! Miltopia, aka Milto LOL pia, go to horseland.com and sign up for an account. Seriously. For Horseland World (NOT JUNIOR.) Once you have, devote a few days, like 3 or 4, to try to learn the game and explore it. Once you have, come back and then tell us what you think. Or why don't you alter Neopets' article instead? (Haha, a LOT more people will be upset!)
And yes, I do agree that they need less gameplay, but just a little bit. Philggg, your info about horse breeding isn't necessary. And you might want to combine all the info sections about how to play the game into one section called "gameplay" or something...
Victoria uni 02:37, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
None of this gameplay description makes any sense. I have not played this game and I am pretty bright. I should be able to get a vague idea of the gameplay described in these paragraphs and I am totally lost. I've tried to help but am limited by my lack of experience with this activity. Perhaps someone with better knowledge than I can help clarify? Milto LOL pia 08:23, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Premium account section is confusing as well. What does re-upgrade mean? Is it painful? Is the fee a one-time deal, or is an additional annual fee? Milto LOL pia 08:28, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Tell me which specific parts you don't understand and I will fix them to the best of my ability. And you must re-upgrade your account every year. It's not a one-time deal (oh, no, that would be too easy... I wish!)But you do get a $5 discount to $24.95 if you re-upgrade before your premium account expires.... if that makes any sense.... I don't really know if it's painful... you can pay by credit card (Paypal) or check through the mail I think...... Victoria uni 05:06, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've clarified the premium accounts section, I think, could you check it for accuracy? Thanks for the help, however I'm not sure what to say about the gameplay as parts of it are too unclear for me to really identify the problem. It's just hard to follow as someone who has never played the game. Does the game take a lot of effort to learn? Maybe I'll just sign up to learn enough to improve the article. Not to mention it could provide some good trolling opportunities... Milto LOL pia 06:46, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It looks fine for now, but the whole Horseland article could be longer... No, it isn't that hard to play. You just need to explore the game and click buttons... I recommend everyone that's working on this article to sign up for Horseland World (make sure it's not junior, not the comic characters version). And if you need help with anything, just send a talk message here.... And what trolling opportunities? What's that mean? Victoria uni 20:25, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up tags[edit]

IMHO, the clean up tags added to the article are self-explanatory. There are no WP:RS citations and the article is mostly WP:OR. Please do not remove the tags until these issues are resolved. Thanks, Leuko 16:28, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing the point for an OR tag; there is no evaluation or conclusions being drawn in the article. If the descriptions needs cites then that's a different issue. I've also added two references, though admittedly they are primary sources. Milto LOL pia 23:26, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion?[edit]

I'm not going to nominate this myself after the not-so-hard-but-certainly-existent work I've put into it, but I question the existence of this article. Most of the info in the internets is about the TV show, I'm finding next to nothing as far as third-party sources for the site. Milto LOL pia 23:13, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great Update[edit]

The latest update by Ginahl was great. It covers all the important points and meets Wiki guidlines WP:MMOG for MMOG's and brings it in line with other similar pages .. Neopets, Habbo Hotel, Runescape. (Miltopia, I don't understand at all your latest comments. Horseland has over 280K references on the internet and 95%+ are about the site.)If you are not happy with Ginahl's version I think we should take a vote to see who likes it.
