Telling the reader to conduct a google search[edit]

The proper way of stating that a fact—such as a variety of styles were used—is to find a reliable source saying it, and then reference that. I don't believe we should be instructing the reader to: conduct a google search and see for yourself. —BillC ^talk 09:29, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is there such a source? The closest is probably a blog, but being a blog is it a reliable source? Because of copyright rules, this article lacks illustrations, which would make the fact apparent, without the need for a statement. A more cumbersome way to convey the information would be a bulleted list such as -
- In 1949 the layout was in landscape format, with 3-colour printing.^[1]

I still prefer the current instruction and I'm not aware of any guidance saying that shouldn't be done. What's the best way forward? Johnragla (talk) 18:41, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will see what I can find. I have never encountered such as instruction in an article before. On a more general note, this is not an article in good shape. 80% of it consists of lists, of little interest and value to the reader. I have reduced the vertical height by turning these into columns but this has simply lade bare how list-heavy the article is. It might help to split off the list content to an article of its own. —BillC ^talk 01:42, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
