School
[edit]He attended Brooks Academy in Andover, where his parents both taught, and grew up on campus. i believe the citation of Pikes School is incorrectly quote from a magazine article.
As much as I agree, "most talented" could be considered point of view. Particularly when it seems it's preceded by weasel words. --Clementduval 00:52, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Pike is K-9, Brooks (and Phillips Andover) is 9-12. I don't doubt that he may have lived at Brooks for some period of time, but he only attended a year there before transferring.. I've removed "the Spader family lived on the Brooks campus" because the "source" listed mentioned nothing of it. If it can be properly sourced, add it back. 71.202.238.214 (talk) 04:29, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
???? Yamla
[edit]I got a "last warning" for "vandalizing" this page!!! All I did was adding the photo. what's wrong Yamla?
- Yes, in blatant and apparently deliberate violation of WP:FU. --Yamla 19:53, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Huh?
[edit]"Offbeat and private, Spader has always narrowly avoided mainstream success, but he is widely acclaimed as one of the most talented, albeit unwilling, actors of his generation."
How is he an "unwilling" actor? That makes no sense. The whole sentence is weird. Has he "avoided" mainstream success intentionally? Because that's what that phrasing sounds like. He doesn't want to be a successful actor...what, is it part of a prison work-release or something? I don't know a thing about this guy, but if no one has any objections, I'd like to take that sentence out, until someone else can figure out exactly what it's intended to say. -Randomglitter 01:22, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think they meant that he isn't concerned with starring in mainstream films and blockbusters. He takes films if he finds the material provocative, or he needs the money. Movies like Stargate and True Colors, he's explicitly said to be mostly money-driven projects. Obviously, that sentence is long gone, but I think his "If I find it erotic or need the money, I'll do it" philosophy might warrant note, since he's passed up opportunities to become a superstar.71.202.238.214 (talk) 04:29, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Acura Commercial
[edit]Is he the voice talent for the current Acura commercials. Whoever it is sounds like him. Jon Thompson 03:39, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Answered my own question. IMDB has it noted in other work.
- Jon Thompson 03:50, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
I edited the article to reflect his participation in the Acura commercials, but Yamla deleted it, stating it violates WP:RS. However, as WP:RS says, it is only a guideline and is to be allowed the occasional exception according to common sense. This is one of those cases. Yamla states that trivia is not notable; however, this is notable. Unless Yamla defends his/her point of view, I will re-insert that information soon, even if it is not in a "Trivia" section. Magnetic Rag 21:14, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Trivia is by definition trivial. See WP:TRIVIA. You are free to add it to the article itself, rather than to a trivia section, if you can find a source meeting WP:RS and if you believe it is not, after all, trivia. --Yamla (talk) 21:25, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Done. Thank you for your excellent guidance! Magnetic Rag (talk) 21:45, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Looks good to me, thanks, Magnetic Rag. You've done a much better job with that addition than others have with much of the other information on that page. --Yamla (talk) 21:48, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Age?
[edit]Two different birthyears are given -- 1960 and 1961. Anybody know the right one? DavidOaks 22:13, 1 May 2007 (UTC) He was born February 7th, 1960 and is currently 57 years old. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RedOfSpades (talk • contribs) 22:53, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
Brand of Eyeglasses?
[edit]Does anyone know what brand of eyeglasses James Spader wears?
- A quick google search is probably your best bet for finding stuff like that. P.S. you will want to sing all your future posts with a signature ! MaximusEditor (talk) 16:54, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
Crash
[edit]I really think the film Crash should be mentioned in this article. It was his most controvertial film and is often pointed out as a highlight of his career by critics. It won a special prize for daring, audacity, and originality at the Golden Palm at the Festival de Cannes. Imthirsty22 23:56, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Bad Influence/Christian Clemenson
[edit]i don't know how to work it into the article, but i think that it's interesting and worth noting that Christian Clemenson (Jerry "Hands" Espenson) played Spader's brother in the film Bad Influence.69.212.157.241 (talk) 08:54, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- Why is this interesting? Do they have some other, off-screen connection? —D. Monack talk 20:49, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
it is documented in one of jimmys interviews that christian clemenson was his boyhood best friend, and actually convinced spader that his future lay in acting — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.70.229.180 (talk) 20:51, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
Career?
[edit]That section is seriously incomplete. While it's true that Boston Legal is probably Spader's most visible role, he was hardly an unknown prior to the show (the guy was in Stargate, fercrissakes!) and therefore his career prior to 2006 should be addressed. --Funkmistress (talk) 02:15, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- I edited it very, very preliminarily. It isn't extremely eloquent, but it's better than what was there before. Feel free to make it flow more.71.202.238.214 (talk) 04:29, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps..
[edit]Instead of the "Weasel word"' how about something like "Some of his notable roles include ..." ? Thanks Kvsh5 (talk) 22:26, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Overall Clean up
[edit]I am working on gathering information to add to the Career, early life, and personal life. I also am going to back check most of the article and find quality references for the entire article. If there is anything else that anybody sees that needs to be changed feel free to let me know.
Propsed changes to James Spader Early Life Spader was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and is the youngest of three children, including his two older sisters. His parents Jean (née Fraser) and Stoddard Greenwood "Todd" Spader are both retired teachers [9]
During his early education, he attended multiple private schools including The Pike School (where his mother taught Art) and later the Brooks School (where his father taught) in North Andover, Massachusetts for one year, [1]
He later transferred to Phillips Academy, which is the last Academy he attended because at the age of 17 in the 11th grade, Spader, dropped out, with his parents persmission, and moved to New York to pursue his acting career [9]
Spader grew up in a very liberal and progressive home which he says has effected his entire life. Spader said this about the three women he grew up around, “I was always around dominant and influential women, and that left a great impression." [2]
Personal Life
Spader has been a busy actor throughout the years as seen in all the films and TV series he has been in but he never lets that get in the way of his family. Spader said this about his personal life, “I refuse to let my home life and my life with my friends and my family be compromised by what it is I do for a living. I refuse to let that happen. As passionate as I feel about it, it's not worth sacrificing anything in my home life.” [5]
I have found some information on his early life and personal life from these references. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
Feedback would be great --Joshewuh2 (talk) 21:02, 8 November 2015 (UTC)Joshewuh2
- Hello Joshewuh2! You mentioned that you wanted to add more information to the early life, personal life, and career sections of James Spader’s page. I think it would be helpful for you to start by focusing your research and editing on the early life and personal life sections first, which are currently pretty bare. After you have added this information, if you would still like to work on gathering information for the Career section, you may do so. I think this approach would help you make meaningful edits, while at the same time help you to even out the sections of his page so that one section does not have significantly more information than the others. I hope this suggestion gave you a little more direction moving forward and if you have any questions, feel free to comment! Kmccamy14 (talk) 19:46, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you that helps. I was thinking the same thing because the career life definitely has more information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joshewuh2 (talk • contribs) 20:34, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
These sources seem pretty reliable! Be careful using eonline and such because they might by biased towards tabloids and such, but good job! ( Chrissy333 (talk) 17:11, 8 November 2015 (UTC) )

Copyvios
[edit]hi
Lots of copypasta in a couple of paragraphs - the article needs going through to make sure there is not any more.
I will take a look later in the week if no one else does, but the paragraphs I corrected were whole sentences and paragraphs lifted from the ref. Chaosdruid (talk) 13:50, 17 March 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Western World security, ciberspace, satellite communications, has been more relevant since 911 so they say! Spy stories, identification, probably updated to us with wiki-leaks, snowden,...
I suppose the Blacklist is as good as you can get it. I am waiting for Season 7, and the update to Netflix of Season 6.
The drama of the covert life and at the same time so human mistakes, means really and truly, what doesn't the Government know about this time!
Cheers. (2001:569:777E:CF00:DDF8:7037:CA4E:D66D (talk) 23:57, 22 September 2019 (UTC))
