Untitled[edit]

James Thompson Vs Kimbo Slice is wildly seen as a fix across the MMA community with Elite XC coming under severe criticism for how they promoted and looked after Kimbo. The main example is rumours and claims that Seth Petruzelli was given a bonus to not go to the ground with him. The James Thompson fight was a clear and unjustified stoppage. Removed the final sentence with regard to his record, which is clearly visible in the chart below and unnecessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharpeder (talkcontribs) 03:53, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The section under the heading "Elite XC" has a biased tone and is inaccurate. I justed watched this fight, and the referee was not biased and did not favor Slice. The writer claims that the fight was stopped when Thompson's cauliflower ear burst. This isn't correct. Rather, the ref let it go on for several more seconds, during which Slice pounded Thompson into semi-consciousness. Slice obviously would have only continued to hurt Thompson; thus the decision seemed justified to me. Also, the crowd wasn't booing; the reaction was admittedly mixed, but it was not exactly a unified chorus of boos. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.160.85 (talk) 04:28, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The entire article is just one long apology for Thompson's spotty record. It's either an "unfair" or "disputed" loss or it's "unlucky." I think this actually does a disservice to Thompson who is a kind of "gatekeeper" fighter that everyone has to pass through to get to the next level. There's nothing wrong with that...he's earning his money. He's kind of like Keith Jardine in this respect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.80.60.230 (talk) 18:19, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you. The section was cleaned up somewhat, but the writer still obviously shows a bias towards Thompson. For example, he/she deleted the edit I put in last night about how the referee actually did NOT stop the fight immediately after the cauliflower ear episode, but let it go on for a little while, during which time Slice definitively ended the bout by clearly incapacitating Thompson. Also, the writer(s) emphasized the fact that the referee didn't stop the bout near the end of the second round when Thompson had Slice in a dangerous spot. This is true, but he should NOT have stopped it then, as Slice was only at a disadvantage and was not seriously hurt. I'm wondering if I should try to edit again, or if this Thompson partisan is just going to keep changing it back. :( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.160.85 (talk) 04:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is no "citation needed" on a discussion page you fucking moron. Anyway, look at the video of this fight on youtube. I said "obviously would have continued..." because Thompson had his arms down and was stumbling backward clearly hurt. I've left your crappy c-rated article alone; don't be an asshole, just shut up and be grateful that you haven't been banned from editing this site.

i agree, the kimbo vs thompson fight was unfair along with a couple others. thompson should really have 3 extra wins and 3 less losses. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.188.200.62 (talk) 03:49, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

James quote[edit]

Can anyone uncensor what James said after his fight with Pudzian? Let's remeber Wikipedia is not censored, if those are too much fucks, then remove the quote and explain what happened without quoting.

I think the details of the rant are not important, but the fact that he had the mike and the TV was airing it is. How about: "In the rematch at KSW XVII, despite Thomspon's domination throughout most of the fight, his rival's victory was originally announced. After the fight, having seized the microphone from the announcer, Thompson launched a verbal assault from the stage directed at the promotion in which he used profanities. Two days later, the promotion admitted a scoring mistake and changed the result to a No Contest. 86.111.104.99 (talk) 00:04, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

james thompson nickname: iron jaw mcgraw[edit]

I have been a Thompson fan since his first fights through to his last. He has never been known as ironjaw mcgraw and any references to James being called ironjaw mcgraw obviously come from this article. This is obviously a derogatory swipe at James Thompson's ko losses. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.248.178.51 (talk) 19:45, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
