Comment[edit]

James Valenti is a rising American tenor who sings at the worlds finest opera houses and has won several of opera's most important awards. These include the Richard Tucker Award, Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, and Opera Index. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DVesey (talkcontribs) 18:52, 28 January 2011

Definitely notable enough for an article, but the current one reads like a blurb in the back of an opera programme. Needs considerable expansion. I've tagged it as a stub. Voceditenore (talk) 10:06, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Future editing[edit]

I've re-written (and truncated) the recent additions to this article which introduced appalling unencyclopedic puffery, typical PR name-dropping, and unreferenced assertions. Future editors, especially those who are affiliated in any way (personal or professional) with James Valenti, including his publicists at Indra Public Relations, must adhere to the following guidelines when editing it.

1. Before even starting to edit it again, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for guidance.
2. This is an encyclopedia article, not Mr. Valenti's personal web site or news letter. All additions must be referenced to reliable sources. Future performances and schedules are inappropriate. Performances should be added once they have actually taken place and a reference from an independent published for them can be provided.
3. All additions must be neutrally worded and use encyclopedic tone and style. Any additions which can be perceived by a neutral reader as hype or PR will be removed. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms for guidance.
4. Do not paste in text from your or anyone else's official websites, blogs etc. Apart from the almost invariably unsuitable promotional style, it is a copyright violation unless the sites explicitly display a public domain license. Further guidance can be found on the following pages. Please read them carefully:
5. Remember, that once you have written or contributed to an article on Wikipedia, you no longer own it. It will always have to conform to Wikipedia's policies on content, style, and formatting – not to the subject's desired image or marketing goals. Voceditenore (talk) 11:12, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[edit]

Hello, would it be possible to alter the first paragraph to the following: James Valenti (born Sept 2, 1977) is an American operatic tenor from New Jersey with an active international career specializing in leading roles in Italian and French repertoire. He is a celebrity ambassador for Children International and currently resides in West Palm Beach FL. [1]

Also, can we add the following award: West Virginia University College of Creative Arts Distinguished Alumnus Award 2014[2]

Thank you! Jamesvalentiopera (talk) 13:56, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've made the suggested additions (adapted to the Wikipedia Manual of Style requirements). Note that "currently" and similar relative time constructs are not used here. Instead, I have simply stated that he (you?) resides in West Palm Beach and I placed it in the Life and career section where that information is more appropriate along with a mention of serving as an ambassador for Children International. Hello, is it possible to get the following award adjusted to Grand Finale Winner? The Met Opera has updated their archive, so it would be great to have that reflected here as well. Thank you! 2002 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions – Grand Finale Winner
