Dr. Jan Garavaglia[edit]

Season 2, episode 15. This man whom you so disparage for stopping his dialysis and letting himself bleed out from his shunt is cruel. My husband was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2014 agreed to have a shunt placed in his arm, and after 3 surgeries to do so finally agreed to go through dialysis. He began dialysis in August 2015. He suffered tremendous pain from the procedures, and only did it for me. By early October he could not endure anymore pain and fatigue. He died on October 15, 2015. I will never forgive myself for urging him to continue dialysis for my own selfish reasons. I loved him so much and I didn’t want him to die. So I would like to know how you could condemn that man for letting himself bleed out and ending his pain?? You think you know so much but you have NO idea what families and loved ones go through when confronted with this terrible disease. And for your sake I hope you never have to. This talk page is not an appropriate place for criticism of Dr. G or the production staff of her show. If you can find a reliable source discussing the episode in question and criticizing the segment about the man ending his life by sabotaging his shunt, we can certainly add material to the article talking about it. But with all possible respect and empathy towards your suffering and that of your late husband, this article (or its talk page) is really not a suitable forum to do that. Also please keep in mind that Dr. G and/or the producers of her TV series have no connection to this Wikipedia article and are unlikely to see anything we write here — all the more so because the TV series is no longer in production. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 07:09, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
