Are you sure that he "developed the Boisduval scale"? My understanding is that Boisduval scale is a scale insect, Diaspis boisduvalii, that infects greenhouse orchids. The text suggests that Boisduval scale is an ordinal scale like the Richter or the Beaufort scale.
