Is it really accurate to say that Blanton introduced eighth-note melodic ideas that were "totally new to the instrument"? I don't mean to diminish his contribution to bass playing, but there was extensive melodic work being done on the instrument in the prior century by the likes of Dragonetti and Bottesini. Blanton may have been the first to play extensive eighth notes on the bass within a jazz context, but he certainly wasn't the first bassist ever to play eighth notes. 204.193.129.239 18:26, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the link to french horns on the word horn is misleading - in this context, "horn" is being used in a slang manner to refer to typical jazz lead wind instruments (saxes, trumpets, and trombones). 204.193.129.239 05:57, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
