Big picture?[edit]

Why clog up Wikipedia with non-entities like this? What 'big picture' is this person conceivably in? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.70.229.171 (talk) 21:41, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

She has an MBE (for interior design) and has received quite a bit of press coverage so is she notable? I'd say yes. I suspect what you're driving at is that you don't believe that she's worthy of being notable, which is a different and somewhat more personal conclusion. Wikipedia has entries on all kinds of people, some of whom are famous for being famous (Paris Hilton is probably a good example). We don't have entries on other people who some may judge more worthwhile of attention. We don't, for example, have articles on people who volunteer at shelters caring for the homeless, even if they do it for many years. We have articles on major scientists but not the many minor ones who work away contributing to the ground swell of knowledge that allows those major scientists to make the leaps of thought they're notable for. We have articles on the astronauts who rode in rockets to the moon but very few of the engineers who built those rockets merit an article. Society, as a whole, sometimes idolises the strangest people. What you see here is, to some extent, a reflection of that strange idolisation. Be that as it may, if you still don't believe that the article belongs here, you can register an account and nominate the article for deletion here.
