Brum Kong[edit]

I have again removed the text:

While in Birmingham the statue was colloquially known as Brum Kong

which cited an undated but recent (2010?) Birmingham Post web page, where the term is used only for the headline above some readers' letters, and the 24 January 2011 edition of Inside Out, for which the context is not given. No evidence has been given that the term was used "while [the statue was] in Birmingham" and the term appears to be a recent neologism with little uptake, with no Google results other than the above-mentioned Birmingham Post page. Location of King Kong statue after Manzoni Gardens[edit]

I'm afraid this article is incorrect in the location of the statue after it left Manzoni Gardens. The statue was sold to Mike Shanley, who changed the name of his car dealership to King Kong Cars. The dealership was located on the Stratford Road, A34, next to the former Holy Trinity church, which is next to the Stratford Road and Trinity Terrace junction. My reference is this interview in 1972 with Mike Shanley at http://www.macearchive.org/Archive/Title/atv-today-18091972-birmingham-garage-owner-buys-king-kong-statue/MediaEntry/18015.html?fb_action_ids=10151444401520959&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=feed_opengraph

After the Camp Hill location, the statue and King Kong Kars Kompany was moved to Ladypool Road, close to the Clifton Road junction. This is referenced by this clip from the BBC series Gangsters in 1976 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY8fHwzTADI King Kong can be seen at 56 seconds into this clip. King Kong the statue has its back to the Clifton pub

I'm trying to locate who Carl Racey was, since several articles claim he purchase King Kong - I assume he may have purchase King Kong Kars Kompany from Mike Shanley, but I am unable to confirm this. Martin mullaney (talk) 09:36, 3 May 2013 (UTC) Martin Mullaney 3rd May 2013[reply]

Mr Racey[edit]

The repeatedly removed material cites a page which says "It is likely that Racey was the second owner after Mr Shanley." and should be restored ASAP. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:43, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've now restored the cited' information, please note that removing such content, while claiming that it is not cited, may result in a block from editing. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy;

The claim on the Mace page that "It is likely that Racey was the second owner after Mr Shanley." is not substantiated - it's their guess, based on the fact that Mr Racey is mentioned on a Japanese translation lesson - see http://www.englishforjapanese.com/exercises/usage%20review/king%20kong%20kar.html I have searched for evidence of his existence else where and can't find any. It is possible that the Japanese translation lesson used the phrase 'racing car' to create Carl Racey.

It seems fundamentally wrong that this page is continuing to promote the existence of a Mr Carl Racey when there is no primary source to his existence. - [user: Martin Mullaney]
