They quit doing Kingdom Days. It was replaced by the Fulton Street Fair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.106.11.117 (talk) 05:13, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a photo of a commercial business, named in the caption, to illustrate this article? There has to be a better choice. Gtwfan52 (talk) 22:57, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And a year, two months and one week later, I will reiterate the above. How can a picture of a non-notable business, a commonplace, mundane non notable business at that, be illustrative of what this settlement is about? It seems to lack only the number for reservations to be a full blown advertisement. John from Idegon (talk) 01:14, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There may be a COI between an editor and a business that is being highlighted. Ideally, any editor with a connection to a business that is highlighted would note any WP:COI. Logical Cowboy (talk) 02:33, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Logical Cowboy: COI or not, it is my position that Wikipedia should not be promoting any single business anywhere. How does a chain motel, just like any other chain motel in any town anywhere, say anything about this community? My position, COI or not, is that the use of this photo is nothing but promotional. It may serve as a reasonable illustration on the article about the chain. Can't really see anyplace else it wouldn't be promotional. It is even layed out like a standard motel brochure photo. Disclaimer: Although I am not now, I was in the hotel management field for many years. John from Idegon (talk) 03:17, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you, John. Logical Cowboy (talk) 03:19, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I had taken that picture myself for the Super 8 Worldwide article. Thanks User:John from Idegon for saying it looked like a standard motel brochure photo, I guess I did a good job! Anyways, if you've ever been to Kingdom City, Missouri it's not like there is a "city scape" to take a photo of... I suppose I can take as good a wide-angle photo of as many of the businesses on the strip of highway as possible... or take a photo of the water tower which has the village's name and the logo of the local high school on it... I will work on it. You have to understand that this village consists of 5 hotels, 6 gas stations, 3 sit-down restaurants, 6 fast food, a post office, a bank, 2 "tourist trap" souvenir shops (one of which is closing), a tow and repair shop, and a county-owned tourism center with a state police substation in the basement. That's what the village is. There are only about 130 people, this village literally exists as a giant rest stop for the highway, more people work here than live here.Camelbinky (talk) 21:03, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The water tower would be a great choice. A water tower with the town name is almost the ideal illustration for a little "bump in the road" town. Thank you. Camelbinky. John from Idegon (talk) 21:55, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I posted the firefighter memorial today, and may work on expanding the whole article soon, possibly including more photos. RM2KX (talk) 18:02, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
