fleshing out this page.[edit]

Here is a list of things that I believe still need to be added to the page.

Pictures - we need pictures of Latakia leaf, fields, the barns they are cured in, and the way they are sun cured. though we already have a picture of some Orientals from Macedonia, these are Var. Rustica and we need the latakia Tobacum Var. Fruiticosa. (a larger looking leaf). if we could get a side by side with other Orientals to show size difference, that would nice.

there a lot of citations needed and some supporting pages that are missing (Virginia Tobacco, drew estate cigars). -we need more info in the Use within tobacco blends area. I've added information on English Blends and touched on aromatics and cigars/cigarettes, but we need to expand on Balkan blends. though they may just contain latakia like English blends do, they are used differently and paired mostly with other Orientals with smaller additions of western tobaccos.

we need to touch on dedication of pipes as latakia is a strong flavor and very distinct. to a point that it can leave a lasting flavor in most pipes. so, many pipe smokers use separate pipes for these blends. though not all smokers do.

we need more history about the fluctuation of availability and price when concerning the stability of Syria. moreover, we need more info tying this to the transfer of production to Cyprus.

furthermore, we need more history on the use of latakia and its availability during pre independence (pre1920)

we need more examples of blends throughout history. it would be nice to see blends from the 19th century, 20th century (pre-resurgence), and the 21st century that exemplifies their most distinctive contributions to that era of pipe smoking.

we need to make sure that we setting this tobacco aprt from other smoke-cured leaves. it would be cool to see a paragraph talking about this and why latakia is different from say kuntucky firecured. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrislWatford (talkcontribs) 19:43, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removing perfume section[edit]

Make some copyedits, although further editing is needed to structure the article so that it is clearer. I removed the perfume section since it was barely relevant. --LatakiaHill (talk) 04:49, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
